ACADEMIC OVERVIEW

The School and College Year

The academic year begins in July and ends by Mid-June. Orientation Program of one week is scheduled in the month of July. The academic years is divided into two terms.

First Terms : August to December

Second Terms : January to June

Vacation

Winter Break, Summer Break and two Eid Holidays are the major scheduled vacations/holidays during the academic year. The dates of these Vacations are indicated in the annual School calendar.

Curriculum

EISC has designed a comprehension curriculum for Grade VIII to XII leading to the Edexcel IGCSE and Advanced Level General Certificate Education Course of U.K. The Curriculum provides the ground work of IGCSE & A Level Courses of Edexcel board, U.k.

The three compulsory subjects of IGCSE are English language; Bengali language and mathematics B. Additional subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Pure Mathematics, General Biology, Human Biology, Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Business Studies, Bangladesh Studies and Computer Studies.

The two year course leading to the Advanced Level GCE Examination qualifies students for admission directly into university. The subjects offered at A Level Course are Physics Chemistry, Mathematics (As: C1, C2, S1) (A2: C3, C4, S2), Biology, Accounting and Business Studies.

Assessment

Students are assessed officially 4 (four) times in an academic year during the two Terms.

Term 1: 1st Mid-Term and Half-Yearly Exam

Term 2: 2nd Mid-Term and Final Exam

In addition, students are assessed on a monthly basis as well along with regular formative assessment in class consisting of Quizzes, Class Work, Homework, Worksheets and Assignments.
